Wood Windows and Patio Doors are available with a wood exterior or an aluminum clad exterior, and with divided light options that include simulated divided lights (SDL), removable wood grilles, or grids between the panes, along with many other options. All windows feature Low E² glass as the standard option, with Low E Cubed optional for maximum solar control.
Marvin Wood Windows and Doors: Marvin’s aluminum cladding features a 70% Kynar finish in nineteen colors. Marvin features fine mill work and state of the art design. Their options include nine different extruded aluminum exterior trims as well as alternate wood species, applied jamb extensions and almost unlimited custom shapes. Their new Signature line includes such specialty products as bi-folding and sliding multi panel doors, push out "old world" style casements, operating round windows, and "Monumental" 2 1/4" thick French doors available up to 10 feet tall. Marvin has introduced the new Ultimate Replacement Casement, which compliments their Ultimate Insert Double Hung, and traditional Tilt-Pak double hung replacement systems. And now they've introduced the new Ultimate casement window line, with a great new operator that make cleaning the outside even easier. They also offer new high visibility screen material.
Integrity by Marvin features a composite exterior with a pine interior or an all composite version. They include a full line of window and patio door products in standard sizes including swinging and sliding patio doors. Integrity Ultrex/Wood products feature optional jamb extensions for 2 x 6 walls, simulated divided lights, removable wood grilles or grids between the panes, and an optional white finished interior. The all Ultrex composite line is now available in sliding doors, single hungs, double hungs, sliders and fixed units and features a white interior with any standard exterior color. Both the Integrity and the all Ultrex product now feature five exterior colors: stone white, pebble gray, bronze, evergreen and cashmere. Integrity also has a high performance DP50 rated outswing French door. Due to the standard sizing and efficient production of this line, lead times are half of the usual wood window production times. They now offer optonal Cardinal Low E 366 (cubed) for even better efficiency.
Jeld-wen Wood Windows and Doors feature three different lines of wood windows, and all their pine products feature their proprietary Aura-last preservative, which carries a 20 year wood rot warranty, the only one of it's kind in the industry:
The Custom Series (formerly Pozzi) features optional aluminum cladding with a 70% Kynar finish in 41 standard "designer” colors, all offered at the same price, with optional copper sash cladding on windows and patio doors. Available options include four extruded exterior clad trim profiles, six SDL bars and several alternate wood species, including v.g. Douglas fir, mahogany and knotty alder, and they now offer v.g. fir and mahogany non clad exterior products. This line now features standard Low E 366 (Low E "cubed") for the best energy efficiency, and new BetterView screen mesh for optimal visibility. They also build a wide variety of custom shapes and configurations including "push out" casements and multipanel swinging, bifolding and sliding doors. Custom series casements and double hungs are now available with optional Phantom screens with wood veneer covered housings and tracks.
The Premium Series (formerly Norco) features aluminum cladding in 9 standard colors or twelve available optional colors. The Premium series is a quality mid-priced line with many features, including three extruded exterior trim options and several SDL bar profiles, as well as removable grilles or grids between the panes. The Premium series also includes a complete line of swinging and sliding patio doors in a wide range of sizes, and they now offer knotty alder interiors, Phantom screens, BetterView screen cloth and Low E Cubed options as well.
The Builder’s Series (formerly Caradco) is a competitively priced entry level wood window line, with aluminum cladding in four color choices. This product line includes sliding and swinging doors, casements, awnings, double hungs and fixed windows with an optional white prefinished interior. They also offer standard 7/8” SDL, removable grilles or grids between the panes and attached jamb extensions for 2 x 6 or wider framing.
Vinyl Windows are generally available in two colors, white and tan or desert sand depending on the brand, with optional grids between the panes or simulated divided lights, and all of my suppliers offer the new Low E Cubed for maximum energy efficiency in our climate:
PlyGem vinyl windows (formerly Certainteed) are one of the industry leaders, with a state of the art plant in Sacramento, which means short lead times, and excellent qualtity and service. They feature multiple product lines and have a life time warranty which includes material and labor.
Amerimax windows are premium vinyl windows made in Woodland. They feature a full line of products, including swinging and sliding patio doors. Amerimax features a “double lifetime” transferrable warranty. They also feature an optional “color coat” exterior, with eight available color choices. They offer both new construction and replacement style frames.
International Window makes vinyl and aluminum windows, also featuring a lifetime warranty and many typical options. They also feature the optional “color coat” exterior finish on vinyl windows. Their newest product offering is the Ambassador Thermal Break aluminum window, featuring a great new technology which allows them the option of different exterior and interior colors.
Velux is the premier maker of skylights and roof windows. Their redesigned deck mount and curb mount lines are very much improved for easier installation and added energy efficiency, and they now feature a prefinsihed white interior (raw pine is still available). The product line includes venting skylights, with either manual or electric operation, and with the new "pick & click" system the optional blinds just snap into place. And they have a new "solar powered" blind option for fixed or manually operating units that offers an electrically operated blind without direct wiring. They also make the popular Sun Tunnel tubular skylight line.
